What Is Prayer?

What is prayer--simply, talking with God. "But what about?" you ask.

Pray that the world comes to know Him and His plan of salvation through Christ.

Pray for protection against the evil that exists in this broken world. Pray for deliverance, trust, faith, obedience to His Word.

Pray about everything: your needs, hopes, fears, dreams.

Pray for others. Do this a lot. Keep a list of people for whom you are praying and pray faithfully for them...for as long as they need your prayers. It is a beautiful gift you can give them, even if they do not know you are praying for them.

Pray your gratitude for all that God does for you, every day. Notice His blessings and thank Him for them.

Pray for forgiveness for we all have moments of unloving behavior and thoughts, of indifference, lost opportunities due to self-centeredness. God forgives us when we are truly contrite. Ask Him to help you be more loving. Spend time in prayer every day with Him.

Pray for those who are ill. There is so much suffering in this world, especially now with the pandemic. Ask for healing for those who are ill, for protection for those who are not.

"Pray without ceasing." Have a running conversation with God as you go about your day. And take some time to be quiet and listen to what He wants to tell you. Remember that prayer is talking with, not at, God. Talk, be quiet and listen. Open your heart to receive for He very much wants to communicate with us when we allow it. Pray is powerful. It is healing. Praying regularly can change your life. And if enough of us pray, prayer can change the world.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Jesus Christ for you.
