Knowledge of God

"But, how can I know God? I can't see Him, and He seems too vast to understand." While we certainly can't completely grasp the enormity of God and His power, we can began to know Him. How do we get to know anyone? First, by spending time with them, talking with them, listening to what they have to say, watching what they do, sharing who you are with them. We can do this with God, just as we would a friend we want to know better. Yet, all too often, our communication with God is rather one sided, too often no more than a list of things we want God to do for us. Seldom do most of us sit quietly and pay attention to what God wants to reveal to us. And He will communicate with us if we make time for Him to show us what He wants us to know. Try to spend time each day just being quiet and open to God revealing Himself to you.

The other effective tool for getting to know God is to study His Word. The Bible tells us many things He wants us to know about Him and the kind of relationship He want us to have with Him. His Word is full of encouragement, guidance, and speaks often of His love for us. When we ask God to help us understand the Bible and how to have a close relationship with Him, He will honor that request if we are following His guidance to us. How wonderful that we can have a real and personal relationship with God, if only we believe in Him and follow His Word.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
