PROGRAMS (specific details)

Here's what your support accomplishes in our community through the sales of the Resale Store at Philippians Place!

NEW PROGRAM!!!

After much prayer and consideration we have decided to roll out a new aspect of ministry here at Philippians Place. This program has been created to help families and individuals facing homelessness avoid it. We believe that providing a healthy and biblical aid in this manner, we should be able to avoid some of the heartbreaking stories we hear so often here at Philippians Place. So many families could avoid seeing our aid in the context of homelessness if we're able to catch them before it's too late. We believe this will keep a roof over families heads as well as keeping these families together. Life can bring unexpected and expensive trouble. We hope to be a reflection of God's mercy and grace in these circumstances.

While this is a benevolence program we do still function as a hand up rather than a handout. All clients must meet certain criteria in order for their requests to be considered by our program committee. We must see that clients have a plan or be willing to make a plan with us in order to avoid needing this kind of aid in the near future.

Right now we have limited funds but If you would like to learn more about this program or how to help more individuals and families in need, please contact us through one of the provided options below.

We have also recently begun assisting churches with benevolence as we can aid in providing a screening process and build a request history for individuals seeking benevolence from churches in Jacksonville, NC and Onslow County, NC.

Emergency Financial Assistance

Resource

Program

Our Resource Program distributes community resources and information, assists with obtaining essential items, and completes assessments to help those in need that qualify for programs both inside and outside of our organization. â€‹

We teach participants budgeting skills, life skills, and spiritual strengthening to increase their opportunity to be self-sustaining.

We do not provide financial "quick-fixes", instead, we provide the opportunity for clients to partner with a mentor to navigate through and face their obstacles.

We provide access to computers, internet, email, and other necessary technology so clients can apply or employment, housing, birth certificates, and other necessities.

We aim to provide a HAND UP, not a handout!

The earnings program is tailored to educate, equip, and encourage individuals to prevent and end homelessness in our community. This program assists people in need by providing them the opportunity to learn financial, spiritual, and life skills in classes, bible studies, our community garden, and individual guidance provided by mentors. Each participant earns $10 an hour  through this earnings program.

Once earned, our participants can then utilize their earnings to purchase furniture and household goods from our Resale Store, everyday needs from our Daily Needs Pantry, or financial assistance to purchase their necessities, stop utility shut-offs or evictions, pay for utility or rental deposits, and pay for other necessities.

Outreach

Program

Our Outreach Program is  where the rubber meets the road. This program is designed to assist our volunteers in being the hands and feet of Jesus in our immediate community.  We go out and train local servant s and missionaries to identify and provide help to those who need assistance.

“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:1-3‬ ‭ESV‬

Through these efforts we aim to make direct contact with individuals battling homelessness currently. We go out with resourceful information and material to help them with their immediate physical needs.

Our Transitional Housing Program was created to address a gap in services provided in our community. This helps individuals who need additional guidance and support to become successfully independent.

Our Transitional Housing allows us to assist clients coming out of rehabilitation centers.

We are currently developing Refuge Recovery Center through our transitional housing efforts to assist in filling even more gaps in our community. Click the button to the right to learn more.
