How Wise Am I?

Updated: Jul 1, 2020

Am I a wise person? Should I be? It is not usually something we ask ourselves but it is good to think about just how wise do we act?

Charles H. Sourgean said: "Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom."

How many times we know something and completely ignore its wisdom, instead, acting impulsively on what we want to do. One of the wisest things we can do is ask God for guidance in all our activities. All too often, we ask only when our decisions turn out badly and we are in a jam. How many times have we made poor decisions, knowing that what we were doing was not a good thing to do? Each day should start with a prayer that God will grant you the wisdom to do as He directs. And then, do it! Our lives are made up of ongoing decisions, which reflect our wisdom, or lack of it all along the way.

Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you, love her, and she will watch over you. Proverbs 4:6
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. James 3: 17
